# Competitor Watchlist

> Watch competitors and other brands, and read every email they send

The **Competitors** page shows the emails sent by brands you watch, newest
first. Use it to see what competitors launch, how they onboard new users and
when they run promotions, then remix any email for your own brand.

## Watching a brand

There are two ways to start:

* On any email or sequence in the **Gallery** tab when you add a new email,
select the binoculars button and choose **Watch**.
* On the **Competitors** page, choose **Watch a brand** and enter the brand's
  website, such as `competitor.com`.

**Competitors** joins the sidebar once your workspace watches a brand. Until
then, open it from the command palette.

When you enter a website, Sequenzy reduces it to the registrable domain, so
`www.competitor.com` and `competitor.com` are the same brand. You can't watch
your own website.

* If the brand is already in the [email gallery](https://sequenzy.com/email-examples),
you watch it straight away and its emails show up in the feed.
* If it isn't, Sequenzy reviews it, signs up to its emails and adds it to the
gallery. It shows as **Requested**, then **Collecting emails**, and
its emails appear once they arrive. A brand that can't be added shows **Not
  added** with the reason.

Watching a brand that isn't in the gallery is the same as asking for it with
**Suggest a brand** in the gallery picker, so both lists show the same brands.
Your workspace can keep up to 50 watched and requested brands together.

**Brands like yours** suggests gallery brands that are close to your company
description, one click each.

## Reading the feed

New emails usually show up a few hours after they are sent. Each card shows
the brand, when it was sent and the kind of email. Select a brand on the right
to see only its emails, and open an email to preview it.

Emails collected since your last visit are marked **New**, and the
**Competitors** item in the sidebar counts them. New is tracked for each
person, so a teammate opening the page doesn't clear your count. Emails that
were already in the gallery when you started watching a brand are not marked
new.

**Remix for my brand** in the preview rewrites the email for your brand, using
its layout. See [Email Templates](/concepts/email-templates).

Viewers can read the feed. Owners, admins and marketers can watch and stop
watching brands.

## Availability across interfaces

| Workflow | Dashboard | REST API | CLI | MCP |
| - | - | - | - | - |
| List watched brands | **Competitors** page | [List Watched Brands](/api-reference/references/watchlist-list) | `watchlist` | `list_watched_brands` |
| Watch a brand | **Watch a brand** | [Watch a Brand](/api-reference/references/watchlist-create) | `watchlist add` | `watch_brand` |
| Stop watching a brand | **Stop watching** in its menu | [Stop Watching a Brand](/api-reference/references/watchlist-delete) | `watchlist remove` | `unwatch_brand` |
| Read the emails they send | The feed | [List Watched Brand Emails](/api-reference/references/watchlist-emails) | `watchlist emails` | `list_watched_brand_emails` |
| Remix an email for your brand | **Remix for my brand** | [Create Template from Example](/api-reference/templates/create-from-example) | `templates from-example` | `create_template_from_example` |

**New** markers and the sidebar count belong to the person viewing the
dashboard, so the API, CLI and MCP don't track them. To read only recent
emails there, pass `since` (in the CLI, `--since`). It matches when an email was
sent, and emails arrive a few hours later, so set it about a day before your
last check and skip emails whose `id` you have already seen.
