# Discard Campaign Variation

> Discard a variation; restore it later if you need to

Discards a variation. It leaves the list, and its branches move up to its parent. [Restore Variation](/api-reference/campaigns/variations-restore) brings it back with its label and puts its branches back under it. This needs the `campaigns:write` scope, not `campaigns:delete`.

You can't discard content the campaign is sending: the email itself is never a variation.

## Request
